MTN Foundation has presented cheque of GHc71,000 to the University of Cape Coast (UCC) as payment for students under the MTN Bright Scholarship award.
Presenting the cheque to the school authorities on Wednesday 23rd December 2020, the Acting Corporate Services Executive, Mr Robert Kuzoe told our reporter that four out of the twenty four beneficiaries at UCC graduated with first class honours and we are proud to have made such a contribution to the development of our human capacity.
“We at MTN Ghana firmly believe that these beneficiaries will in the coming years become national asset and they will contribute their quota to national development.”
The scholarship he said covers the cost of tuition, accommodation and a stipend for books and other relevant reading materials.
Vice chancellor, Prof Johnson Nyarko Boampong who received the cheque on behalf of the University mention that the gesture by MTN Ghana has brought huge relief to many homes and a peace of mind to beneficiary students to concentrate on their studies.
He however pleaded with MTN Ghana to extend their scholarship programs to other distances education and online students.
MTN Bright Scholarship was set up to award various sponsorship programmes to well-deserving students across Ghana to pursue various courses at different levels of education in Ghana through the Scholarship scheme.
The Scholarship is designed for year one undergraduate students and continuing education students at any public higher institution in Ghana and is only available to Ghanaians.
