MTN MoMo Agent, Modern Action Ventures at Takoradi Nkroful Junction emerged the overall best MTN Mobile Money Agent in the South-West Business District of MTN Ghana for the Year 2020.

Madam Rita Toku CEO of Modern Action Ventures in Takoradi presented with the grand prize

Business owner for Modern Action Ventures, Madam Rita Toku walked away with the grand prize of Nissan Almera with registration number GN 9436-20. This was announced at the annual MoMo Agents and Merchants awards held at the Best Plus West Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi on Saturday January 16th, 2021.

Congratulating all the award winners for bracing up to the challenge and displaying their resilience to perform creditably, the General Manager for Mobile Money Limited, Mr. Eli Hini Durin urged MTN Agents and Merchants to keep on working hard to achieve higher heights.

He said, in spite of the challenging moments, their Merchants and Agents still demonstrated their commitment to grow the business by working to exceed the targets set for the year.

“The significance of your contribution to curb the spread of COVID 19 cannot be overemphasized. The fact that people could easily locate you and send or receive money as and when they needed it most especially during the lockdown needs commendation. Due to your service, people handled less cash yet they were still able to transact and manage their businesses. Indeed, going forward, we expect to see a steady growth in the uptake of our business”, he added.

Highlight one negative behavior observed among some agents during the year, Mr. Durin mention cash in fraud where some agents create false/fake cash-in transactions to earn undeserved commissions. This behavior he said is very bad and has the potential to destroy the business we have all worked hard to build.

“We have duly cautioned the affected agents on the plea of the various National Executives of the various Agents’ Associations. We will proceed to terminate contracts with agents who will persist I this behavior from Jan 2021”.

A total of 60 Agents, 50 Merchants and 10 Mobile Agents from the Western, Central and the Eastern Regions who distinguished themselves were equally presented with prizes and awards included flat screen Televisions, Motor Bikes, Phones and Tablets plus certificates of appreciation.

The MTN Mobile Money Agents awards is a proprietary event of MTN Mobile Money to recognize and celebrate MoMo Agents and Merchants for the hard work and commitment in deepening the move towards a cash-lite economy. Since 2014, the company has recognized the hard work and significant contributions of over 5000 agents and merchants.
